  Land of the Dead (2005)

Zombies enter class system.

Review: The world is now overrun with zombies. The living have found refuge in fortified cities walled off to keep out the undead. Pseudo-military crews venture into the zombie-filled suburbs to scavenge for supplies. And in this insane world where human survivors have banned together against a common foe, there still exists a class system of the haves and have-nots. The haves enjoy a comfortable, even lavish, lifestyle, while the have-nots struggle.

This is the landscape of Land of the Dead, the fourth installment of George Romero's Dead films. George does it again with another classic zombie tale with poignant statements about our world today. There are quality performances from Simon Baker, as the righteous hero; John Lequizamo, as the likable scoundrel; and Dennis Hopper, as the selfish villain.

There is plenty of blood & gore, especially in the unrated version on DVD. There are also numerous graphic "feedings," the hallmark scene of zombie flicks. Great overall production. A must-see for all zombie fans.
