  Monster (2003)

Ho-micidal.

Mini-Review: Now I know why Charlize Theron received so much praise for her performance. I'm not a huge fan of hers, but there's no doubt Charlize is a natural beauty and to see her in such an unattractive state was a bit unsettling. Aside from the physical transformation, she really took on Aileen Wuornos' mannerisms. Granted that at times her performance seems over the top, but for all I know it may have been a spot on portrayal rather than an over-exaggeration. Christina Ricci is also very good as Aileen's young lesbian lover, but the meek & innocent Ricci looks nothing like the real-life manly Tyria Moore. Overall the film was intriguing and compelling. Nice work, Patty. Recommended.
