  Olga's Girls (1964)

White Slavery and You.

Review: Now here is something different. Olga's Girls is presented much like the old black & white educational films from the 50's and 60's. The film has no sound except for narration from an anonymous male commentator and Olga herself.

Olga and some of her girls

Olga is the sadistic madam of a brothel. Her girls are victims of a mob-run white slavery ring and she maintains their obedience through drugs and torture. If the heroine is not enough to keep the girls in line, Olga hauls them into the basement dungeon for "re-education" sessions.

I told you it was different. Olga's Girls is an exploitation film; in this case, the exploitation of women. There are several kinky, lesbian S&M torture scenes. They're not that extreme by today's standards, but I would think were fairly raunchy at the time. There is also one extremely long and drawn out drug party scene with girls sprawled out on sofas in a haze and others dancing awkwardly. And I can't stress how awkward the whole thing is. It's laugh out loud bad.

As for the gals, they aren't the best looking. They're not ugly or unattractive, rather they're on the plain side and not as ideal as I would like for a story of this type.

Olga's Girls is not a great film, but it's an interesting film because it is so different. And on that basis, it's a worthwhile viewing.
