  Saw (2004)

Salvation: One foot away.

Mini-Review: Saw will soon be one of my favorite horror movies because it has an abundance of my favorite element of horror movies: long extended scenes filled with creepy imagery. Combine that with an intricate and surprising plot, fine acting and brilliant storytelling, and you have a grandiose gore fest that frightens and delights. My only gripe was the chase scene through the cramped tunnel-like concrete pathways that lasted too long and came off amateurish. On the other hand, a surprising highlight, despite her circumstances, Shawnee Smith has never been more desirable. Extremely recommended.
